April is School Library Month
April is the month for all things library!
Although National Library Week has come and gone during our spring break this year, we are still happy that April has been set aside by the American Association of School Librarians to be the month dedicated to reading and school libraries.
Stop in to our library to see what's new and all the wonderful learning going on at Porter! You just might be amazed to see the technology we have in action and the books that students are reading. We really strive to make our school library a welcoming environment for all of our Patriots!
Mrs. Banks and Miss Johnson

Championship voting is complete and the winner is "Wonder" by R.J. Palacio.
Thanks to all our middle school students and Language Arts teachers that participated and helped to make this year's event a success.
Tune in next year to see who we will crown the top book at Porter!
NEW at the Public Library
Did you know that the Prince William Public Library and the Library of Virginia are happy to have their own app to help you find things easier? Check it out at: http://va.boopsie.com/
OR You can scan the QR code here to install it to your Smartphone or device.
We also put up the monthly calendar of local library events coming to the Chinn, Potomac and neighborhood libraries!
We love to have parent volunteers help us shelve books, assist with book fairs and work on special projects in the library! If you're interested in volunteering in the library, please contact Mrs. Johnson (email@example.com) to schedule dates and times!
We look forward to working with you!
